4 Reasons why a pro-head shot is vital

There are several things you can cut corners in when building your business or career. Perhaps winging it with a cheaper alternative which still provides a good presentation, but when it comes to a head shot you will need to go all out. This of course does not necessarily mean spending thousands of dollars; however, presentation does account for a whole lot when conducting business. It's much like having a sparkling smile, impeccable grooming, appropriate attire and more. Presentation is key. There is a numerous amount of questions going through a person's mind when browsing your website for information. Mainly they want to see who they will be conducting business with. People analyze faces. Remember, when people view your picture they’ll really be wondering if you're trustworthy. Whether intentional or not, it’s part of how the brain works. The headshot on your social media and website will be the first impression your business prospects have. So, keep in mind “first impressions are lasting impressions”. Where will I utilize my head shot? You will quickly realize that once you have a great professional headshot, you will be using it throughout your social media, business cards, brochures as well as whatever advertising you do. It will become your go to photo and you will use it with great confidence knowing it's a great business representation of you. Is it expensive? More than you think, but less than you imagined. There’s a price to everything; however, you want to hire someone that knows their stuff. You’re not photogenic or perhaps hate being in front of a camera, this is precisely why you want to hire a professional. Professional photographers that provide headshots have techniques to make you feel at ease. They quickly figure out your angles and bring out your best features. Take your time when looking at a photographer’s portfolio. Ask questions and ask for references, do your due diligence. There are photographers which specialize in headshots for your line of work and are typically the go-to photographers in your industry. This is where you need to step it up a notch and splurge a bit instead of cutting corners and using your cell phone or choosing the inexpensive option of a novice with an expensive camera. Up to date photos are important. As you get older you change, so your photo has to reflect what you currently look like. Sorry but that old photo of when you were 20 won’t work if you’re in your 30’s or 40’s, especially women with hair color changes. The ever changing stages in your life require an updated photo. Remember, image is everything and people expect a professional to look professional. Customer service does not begin with the actual service, it starts with the presentation you provide at first glance. Take action now and don’t miss out on all the opportunities that are waiting for you.
